Skyphos: Imitation Of Pergamene Sigillata?
One handle and part of wall and rim.
Nearly vertical wall turning in toward bottom. Inwardly beveled rim.
Strap handle with added strip of clay around arch ... Context of 200 to late 1st century ... Fairly hard, extremely micaceous, light reddish brown fabric (5YR 6/4); somewhat shiny, gritty red glaze, also extremely micaceous (2.5YR 5/8).
Shape as Pergamene sigillata but of poor quality. Cf. PF VI, Type S 1, pp. 63--64, pl. 7; PF VII, Form 2, pp. 23--24, fig. 5. |
