then a leaf ... Ca. 510 B.C ... For this decoration, see J. R. Mertens, AK 22, 1979 [ pp. 22--37], p. 36 with bibliography and examples; also Euphronios, p. 186 (ARV2 60, 63, listed here, does not have a palmette quatrefoil in the tondo). The cup attributed to Euphronios and mentioned by Mertens on p. 36 is the one now in the art market that shows on side A, Thanatos and Hypnos carrying the body of Sarpedon (Euphronios, cat. no. 34).
