Slightly outturned rim. Large triple handle with appliqué head of Dionysos at base, facing into mouth of vessel. Head turns to proper left, has thick hair, ... Late Roman context ... The shape may have been something like CVA, Stuttgart 1 [Germany 26], pls. 51, 52 [1263, 1264] and CVA, Philadelphia 1 [USA 22], pl. 22 [1078], Apulian red-figure oinochoai with appliqués in this position. |
