Bowl fragment. Max. dim. 0.048.
A, man or youth (part of leg, outstretched left forearm with cloak over it) to right. Preliminary sketch. Relief contour.
The double line accenting the edge of the cloak ... Probably early 5th century B.C ... The double line accenting the edge of the cloak finds good parallels in the work of Douris, although there is not enough preserved on 1415 to be sure of an attribution: Malibu, the J. Paul Getty Museum 83.AE.217 (Buitron-Oliver, Douris, p. 75, cat. no. 38, pl. 24); Christchurch, N.Z., AR 430 (ARV2 438, 138; Buitron-Oliver, p. 87, cat. no. E, 12: the Painter of London E 55); and Boston, M.F.A. 10.193, which is somewhat akin to the early work of Douris (ARV2 1567, 12). |
