Eugene Vanderpool ... Grave (adult female). (In some records as Grave XXXI). The tomb was partly destroyed in antiquity; there are sherds of all periods down to Late Roman (and later) note din the fill immediately above it ... Middle Geometric I ... Hesperia 7 (1938), p. 325.

N 20:7: Cistern at 67/ΙΗ

At 67/ΙΗ, at the northeast slope of the Areopagus. Cistern with drawshaft, 4.60m deep. The drawshaft had been cleared to bottom in the eighteenth or nineteenth century, and some of the fill in the main ... Most second half of 3rd c. B.C.

Well on the north slope of the Areopagus. Unfinished, probably because of hardness of rock, and refilled at once, perhaps with sanctuary dump and with collapsed rock from the shaft itself. Diameter 1.15m ... 3rd quarter of the 7th c. B.C ... Hesperia 7 (1938) pp. 412-428, figs. 1-10.

Tomb at 53-54/ΛΕ-ΛΣΤ-ΛΗ (Late Roman), on the lower north slope of the Areopagus Nb. says ΛΕ-ΛΗ. Deposit list and deposit DB say: ΛΕ-ΛΣΤ ... 350-400 A.D ... Hesperia 7 (1938), pp. 353-355, fig. 41.

The close proximity and similarity of this tomb and tomb M 16-17:1 strongly suggests that they were intentionally laid out in relation to one another and were contemporary ... Well at 8/ΙΑ-ΙΒ, beneath the north colonnade of the Square Peristyle, just west of the north end of the Stoa of Attalos. Quite uniform fill. Diameter 1.15m. No P.O.U. Coins: 4 April 1938 #39 ... 650-600 B.C. 5th c. B.C.
