In spite of its depth, it produced little pottery and its contents were of slight ... 6th c. B.C.? ... In the well were not merely the usual quantities of domestic wares, pithoi, tubs and the like, of broken up terracotta rooftiles and crude brick; there was also a number of building stones: three large blocks of poros from some archaic structure, and many small carefully dressed blocks of Acropolis limestone from a polygonal wall or walls.

Located beneath line of Poros Gutter, from a square settling basin cut in bedrock at the north end of Trench II, South of Theseion, 1.30m below the modern road surface. The basin is lined with rough-picked ... Last quarter of 5th c. B.C.-early 4th c. B.C ... The basin is lined with rough-picked limestone blocks of 0.20-0.30m thickness, closely fitted and bonded with mud mortar, a construction similar too that of the hieron in material and quality, if not size.

Anne McCabe ... Adjacent to the SW face of Byzantine Wall 14. The circular cutting, 0.90m in diameter, appeared at 53.504m under a layer of loose rubble (Lot 481). Wall of the well roughly built, consisting at the top ... 11-19 July 2006 24 June-21 July 2009 ... Wall of the well roughly built, consisting at the top of several courses of large tiles (placed horizontally) and flat stones, including marble blocks. Lower down, from 52.621m, large segments of terracotta well lining tiles are interspersed with other building materials.

Thus one is forced to assume that enough of the wall remained at least ... Ca. 200-150 B.C ... After Sulla many of the blocks at the east and were pulled out, the north wall of court F was placed on the western foundations, but at a slightly different angle, and the wall as such ceased to exist.

Probable that the well was never cleaned out in ... POU Early to second half 1st c. A.D ... To it may belong the blocks which still lie in situ to the north and east of the well, and with it may be contemporary the propylon between the SE corner of the Apollo temple and the Metroon.
