It seems possible that the well ... was originally associated with the late Roman reconstruction of the Stoa, being later carried up to serve the Byz. houses. [Nbp. 364] Coins:

Tomb at 53-54/ΛΕ-ΛΣΤ-ΛΗ (Late Roman), on the lower north slope of the Areopagus Nb. says ΛΕ-ΛΗ. Deposit list and deposit DB say: ΛΕ-ΛΣΤ ... 350-400 A.D.
Upper mixed dumped fill (last quarter 3rd c.-4th c.) with Roman POU below 10.40m. Coins:
