Cutting:the pit cut in bedrock into which the burial was set measured 0.95m from north to south and 0.55m from east to west. ... The burial urn, a pithos, was laid in the pit on its side, the mouth toward the south. A foundation wall of the Roman house passed close to the mouth of the pithos, for which we found no cover; one may have been removed when the foundation was laid. |

The floor of the "house" could not be distinguished from the earth packing at the top of the grave. ... Oriented more or less to the points of the compass, the trench measured about 0.80m (east-west) by about 0.70m (north-south). The filling consisted of hard earth, most of it burned and struck through with charcoal, which was especially thick on the floor of the trench, where some pieces were as much as 0.05m across. |

The pit's plan is irregular; its measurements approximately 2.00x1.10x1.15m. The wall foundations run a little over a meter deep at 53/ΛΓ-ΛΕ, consist of irregularly shaped and ... Ca. 450-425 B.C ... On top of these rest two good sized poros blocks which once supported the first blocks of the house wall. The south wall of the pit is built of slightly smaller stones and clay (no poros blocks), and bonds with the west wall. ... The north wall, of which only a few stones were left, would have been like the south wall.
The pit was filled with a homogeneous, wet, clay-like earth. |

The body of the deceased was roughly the size of the tomb pit, and the head, turned toward the west, facing west-northwest, lay right up against the cutting of the tomb pit. |
